There is plenty of excitement around the growth in streams for Indian and South Asian artists, but in some cases royalties aren’t yet flowing as they should be. That’s something Kobalt and local firm Madverse Music are trying to solve with their new partnership.
Madverse is a distribution, publishing and marketing firm that works with more than 150,000 musicians and labels in the region. Kobalt will now be providing its songwriters, composers and producers with global publishing administration and royalty collection, as well as metadata and sync services.
“For too long, Indian creators have left money on the table simply because the infrastructure to collect global royalties was broken and almost nonexistent,” said Madverse CEO Rohan Nesho Jain.
“Through this collaboration, we’re ensuring that Indian independent artists can finally access and protect these earnings seamlessly, no matter where in the world their music is played… it’s about building sustainable careers and giving our artists the financial foundation they deserve.”
