Berlin-based radio station and educational platform Refuge Worldwide and fairtrade tea brand ChariTea have announced an upcoming event called Groove For Good, a grassroots fundraising party for non-profit platforms.
As the music industry has seen artist-centred independent platforms like Nina Protocol close shop this year, as well as stations like NTS Radio bought up by larger entities — not to mention Refuge itself making bids for crowdfunding — a number of organisations and brands are choosing to jump in for projects that their communities feel are worth keeping afloat.
For the upcoming combination open air and indoor event at Berlin’s Prince Charles Club on 2 August, Refuge has curated a line-up of resident DJs and “friends of the station” — including Ron Trent, CARISTA and Sofia Kourtesis — as well as a surprise set from an undisclosed American musician and graphic artists. First-release tickets are 10€ on Resident Advisor.
