Now that the IFPI’s Global Music Report for 2025 is out – here’s our coverage from yesterday in case you missed it – some more country-specific figures are emerging from local label bodies. Starting with France and Italy.

French organisation SNEP reported €1.07bn of recorded-music revenues for 2025, up 3.9% year-on-year. Streaming accounted for €702m of that, including a 5.9% rise in revenues from subscriptions to €553m.

Free audio and video streaming was up 5% to €149m, while physical sales grew by 5% to €205m. SNEP also hailed the continued surge for local artists, who accounted for three quarters of its top 200 chart last year.

As for Italy, its labels body FIMI reported 10.7% growth for its recorded-music market in 2025, reaching €513.4m. Streaming contributed €340m of that – around two thirds of the total – with subscriptions up 14.1% to €234.4m.

Here, too, physical sales were up – by 21.9% to €74.7m. FIMI also pointed to the fact that new releases accounted for 16% of the streaming market last year, while 82% of streams are generated by songs released since 2010, including 53.7% from those released in the last five years.
