The work to continue the legacy of Swedish electronic-music star Avicii continues, eight years after his death. The latest initiative, from Pophouse and his estate, is the online Avicii Community.
It’s an extension of his existing website, with a big focus on archive video and other material, presented as ‘stories’ about key moments in Avicii’s career.
The site also includes a discography and a database of live shows. The twist here being that fans are encouraged to help build this database and check the accuracy of its entries. In the future they will be able to add photos and videos of their own.
There is also a Spotify integration for fans to connect their accounts and get playlists from Avicii’s friends and collaborators, as well as some focused on particular eras and performances – starting with his 2012-15 sets at Tomorrowland.
The community is free to join, with links to the official Avicii merch store providing one element of monetisation.
